BOLAN BOOGIE is a brand new and definitive collection from T. Rex released on the 1st of November. The 2CD and 2LP sets featuring all the massive T.Rex hits including ‘Hot Love’, Get It On’, ‘Telegram Sam’, and ‘Metal Guru’ which were all UK No.1’s, ‘Ride A White Swan’, ‘Jeepster’, ‘Children Of The Revolution’, and ‘Solid Gold Easy Action’, all of which reached #2 and other huge tracks including ‘20th Century Boy’, ‘I Love To Boogie’ and ‘The Groover’.
BOLAN BOOGIE revisits, reimagines and expands on the long-deleted 1972 compilation of the same name which spent three weeks at #1 in the UK and was one of three #1 albums for Marc that year.
T.Rex brought the world the first true Glam Rock superstar in the charismatic figure of Marc Bolan, who, it is often said, ‘Invented the 1970s’. To this day Bolan’s influence can’t be underestimated with artists as diverse as David Bowie, Elton John, Sex Pistols, Duran Duran, Oasis, U2, Kate Bush, Beck, Pixies, Paul Weller, Nick Cave, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Blondie, Alison Goldfrapp, Beck, Peaches, Martin Gore, Seal, Marc Almond, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Kesha, Jane’s Addiction, Def Leppard, Father John Misty, Adam Lambert, The Black Crowes, Tricky and many more covering his songs or citing him as an influence.
Marc is still considered one of the greatest artists of his generation and held in the highest regard. Speaking in 2020, Marc’s good friend Elton John said, “When I met Prince, I thought he was like Marc: ethereal, very androgynous. If you look at the two of them, they’re very similar in the way they posed. I can imagine Prince singing Telegram Sam, and I can imagine Marc singing Raspberry Beret.”
Before Marc’s untimely death in 1977, T. Rex was nothing short of a phenomenon. British kids hadn’t seen anything like it since The Beatles in their heyday. The ’60s may have had ‘Beatlemania,’ but the ’70s had ‘T.Rextasy.’
The 36-track ‘Bolan Boogie’ brings together all of the band’s biggest hits and greatest tracks, including all of the phenomenal hit singles released between 1970 and 1977 and a selection of their most celebrated album tracks and B-sides.
’20th Century Boy’ will soundtrack a significant Absolut Vodka campaign beginning in the Summer of 2024.
