British Country Star Anna Howie Releases Her New Single ‘Searching For Christmas’.
British Country singer-songwriter Anna Howie releases her new single ‘Searching For Christmas’ on 1 December 2023 on her own label In House Records distributed by Absolute Label Services. This Summer Anna was chosen as a ‘Black Deer Festival Emerging Artist 2023’ and given a slot at the Festival.
Anna herself says of the new song, “My dad was in the church, I grew up around London Churches, and though I would not consider myself to be religious, I still like to go and sit in a church, especially if I need a bit of peace and clarity. When I was in my 20s and living in London I would sometimes go to St Martin in the Field, off Trafalgar Square. It’s a haven, a place of refuge. It stands in the heart of London and as everything around it changes, it stays a constant and is often described as ‘the church of the ever-open door’.
One Christmas, after leaving a party, I suddenly didn't want to be at, I wandered under the lights on the strand and found myself back in St Martin’s with, probably, more questions than answers, but definitely looking for something more than the fizz of Christmas.”
Produced by Kristine Wilkinson Hughes at Saltwell Studios, the song features Anna’s band: Andy Evans on guitars, Roger Nunn on drums and percussion, Harry Whitty on bass and keys, Kristine Wilkinson Hughes and Rue Kate on backing Vocals.
Anna Howie is a veteran live performer and has spent time in Nashville honing her craft. Whilst in Music City she took in a songwriting camp with legendary writer Gretchen Peters and also recorded her EP ‘An Idiot’s Guide to Love’, which was produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer/ Guitarist Bob Britt. Anna then teamed up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Lukas Drinkwater to create ‘The Friday Night Club’.
‘Searching For Christmas’ is the latest in a line of releases that continue to show Anna Howie’s technique and ability to speak from - and to - the heart.
