News: The Waterboys release new song Glastonbury Fayre.
Ahead of the band’s landmark twelfth performance at the iconic Glastonbury Festival, The Waterboys are feeling in a celebratory mood as they today drop a brand new track to mark the occasion, the inspired ‘Glastonbury Fayre’ - watch the video here, and listen here.
Co-written by band leader Mike Scott and multi-instrumentalist Brother Paul, the track is a love letter to Glastonbury, documenting the band’s first ever performance in 1984 and every visit since in a series of funny and revealing verses that namecheck Radiohead, Billy Bragg, Courtney Barnett and Glastonbury Tor.
Mike Scott comments: "This is our tribute to the fabbest fest of all, when the nation comes together in all its true wild weirdness and shakes out the blues. A hymn of gratitude to the mighty Glastonbury Festival for all it's given us over the last fifty years."
The song drops ahead of a packed summer of Waterboys festival appearances, as well as a reissue of their tenth studio album ‘An Appointment With Mr Yeats’ (tomorrow, 17 June), and comes off the back of last month's release of their stunning new album All Souls Hill - out now on Cooking Vinyl.
